It’s not bad for a 17 year old GM product. It desperately needs the nasty ass carpet replaced, though. Forgive the crap pic.

Nice! I have a ‘99 Suburban in the exact same color. Mine is at 271,000 miles and I just love it. Great rig.

Yessir. Should be sufficient for towing duties without sucking down all of the world’s petroleum reserves in daily driving.

Cool! That was another reason I bought this one. With as many as I saw out there during my search with 300,000 miles, I figure it’s a safe bet with 138,000. I’m also unreasonably excited about the bench seat and column shifter. Other than needing a coolant flush (stupid Dexcool) and an oil change, it seems to be ready to go. There’s a few cosmetic issues I’ll tend to such as the carpet (only $200 for a full set, firewall to barn doors), broken/missing radio knobs, missing grilles on the front door tweeters, etc. But, overall, it’s a whole lotta truck in pretty damn good shape for $2,600. I can’t believe how cheap these things have gotten!

Yeah, the Vortec 5700 wasn’t too bad, especially on the highway. We had a 97 K2500 with the Vortec 7400 and she liked to drink, especially with the addition of the protech supercharger

Keep an extra crank and cam position sensor along with the requisite tools to change them in the back. Also might want to add an extra trans cooler inline if you’re going to tow. The 4L60e (and the previous 700r4's and 4L60's) in the 1500's are known to blow up around 150k or when towing.

Yeah, I’m aware of the 4L60E’s weakness. I intend to add a big honkin’ trans cooler, a deep pan, the Corvette servo and a transgo shift kit. The fluid that’s in it looks very nice, clean and pink, so it hasn’t been abused.

That’s good news! I’m serious about the sensors though. Only thing that stops gen 1 vortec 6's and 8's

Can’t help you there. My wife hates my Roadmaster. She tolerates it, because having it keeps me from bugging her to drive her car.

Bad ass engine. Had one in my old Chevy truck. Enjoy.

So far she likes that I paid for it out of my “fun money” account, and when I sell the WJ the money goes back into her savings. Really it’s a lost cause, because I still haven’t managed to effectively communicate that NO, a Subaru Outback with a CVT cannot tow a 24' travel trailer...

I looooove being able to drive all over the city without ever exceeding 2,000 rpm. The low end torque is just delicious.

BWAHAHAHA! I mean, you might be able to tow it once. If you all survive, the car sure won’t.

Hi Travis, i came along a post of yours from about a year ago in regards to the vibration issues on the K2XX platform sierras and silverados, and you mentioned your company had a fix but I couldn’t find anymore details beyond that. Is there still something in the works? I’m not really sure how to contact you through this website other than hoping you see this reply.

Thanks,

My wife hates all my cars. She doesn’t even like the longbed which perplexes me to no end, given how much utility we’ve gotten out of it. She hates the current Tercel the least.

Joke’s on her. When (if)  I finally buy a nice car, it’ll be a coup with a stick.

I can’t really see you doing the nice car thing. I feel like you would lament the money you spend on it. “I could’ve bought six old Toyotas!”

That’s precisely how I feel. My wife’s Pontiac Vibe could have afforded Tercels for daaaaaays

Totally. For the price of a “nice” car, you could have a T-100 and a whole fleet of Tercels ... maybe even a Paseo!

I’ve used something very similar as a plow truck a few times. The most beat to shit vehicle I’ve ever driven. A lesser truck would have quit working several winters ago.
